Trip to Saint Augustine in March

We were also able to take the kids to the oldest fort in the United States: Saint Augustine. Which is only a 2 hour drive from our house. After driving through traffic and finding a parking spot behind Rippley's Believe It or Not, we found out that it was the weekend for the Seafood and Celtic Music Festivals. Lucky us! Cameron learned a lot of information about the Spanish fort and earned his Junior Ranger badge after filling out his workbook. He had to search and find items and talk to a Ranger about what he does at the fort. Cameron found the fort "bathroom" which he found really funny that they "went" in the dirt. Emma was fasinated with the cannons and balls. They were able to see a demonstration of the firing of 4 cannons which was VERY loud. A "pirate ship" was sailing by when they did it so it looked like they were defending the fort from attack. They said that some of the different size cannon balls could travel all the way to the lighthouse which was 1 mile away. Wow! After the walk through of the fort, we walked around downtown and through the crowd of Celtic music and seafood lovers. After a long day in the sun and wind, we were happy to have the family memories that we made in Saint Augustine.
